Welcome to St Peter and St Paul’s, Chaldon
St Peter and St Paul’s is the Parish Church of Chaldon and is part of the Caterham Team Ministry. We strive to be a welcoming, open, inclusive and friendly community church, serving the pastoral and spiritual needs of all the people of Chaldon.
We are in the catholic tradition of the Church of England and we support and encourage the ministry of all. You are very welcome.
St Peter and St Paul’s, Chaldon is internationally renowned for the twelfth-century doom mural on the west wall of the church and the church is mentioned in the Doomsday book.
Please note the church will be closed to visitors from Sunday 8th December to Monday 16th December due to The Nativity Play. Services will operate as per normal.
Visitors are very welcome and the church is open daily from 10am to 3pm during the winter and 10am to 4pm during the summer. Due to circumstances out of our control sometimes church open times may differ, if you are making a special visit please check before visiting.
Visitors must note that St Peter and St Paul’s Church is an ancient church with a stone floor. Please be aware as you are walking around inside the building that some of this flooring is uneven.
Access to the church at any time other than at a service involves 2 sets of 3/2 stone steps without handrails. If disabled access is required please contact the Parish Administrator to organise access.
During British Summer Time there are tea and cakes available on Sundays between 3pm and 4.30pm.
Sunday Teas will start again in 2020.
Our Vision
We believe that all people are created in the image of God, and that all are called by God into a loving, dynamic and transformative relationship with him, through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, his Son and through the power of the Holy Spirit.
On Sundays we come together to receive Holy Communion, to be challenged and encouraged by God's word and to receive strength and support from God and from one another so that we can go back into the world ready to live our daily lives more openly and lovingly, sharing the good news of Christ in our words and through our lives, serving God and our neighbours in this part of Surrey.
We aim to be an inclusive church welcoming everyone, whatever their age, background, sexuality or relationship status and regardless of how much or how little faith they may have. Honest doubters and people with questions are positively welcomed!
