Ash Wednesday Service & Event at St John’s Waterloo

Loading Events

On Ash Wednesday, February 14th at 12 noon, Revd Helen shall be co leading a service at St John’s Waterloo. This service is a shared project launched by several major Christian NGO’s to provide and opportunity for lament and witness around climate breakdown with a specific focus on fossil fuels.

The service promises to be a powerful start to Lent and will include speakers with particular stories to bring as well as music from the Salvation Army and Engage Worship.

After the service we are invited to proceed to Parliament Square for the beginning of a 10 day 24/7 vigil. The vigil will run all day and night from Feb 14th to Feb 24th and every single hour needs filling!

This means joining with a handful of fellow Christians sitting or kneeling on the pavement outside parliament in silent meditation with a banner saying ‘No Faith in Fossil Fuels’.
