Mothering Sunday (Outdoor Service)

Dear Friends,

Traditionally Mothering Sunday saw those in servitude able to return to their mother church – can you take time out from your daily round to come to Chaldon this Sunday?

Every year at our Mothering Sunday service we hand out posies to as many as want to receive and any posies that are left over are taken to Glebe House.

Every year somewhere in the background mothers have made the posies.

This year I would love for this to be a shared effort…..

So I will set up a posy making area in the Hazell Room with quiet music and cups of tea and coffee.

All generations are invited to come with a particular welcome to men and children why not bring your godchildren, nephews, nieces….?

A vital piece of information – please come at 9.30 to make the posies, and at 10.30 to take part in the outdoor service. Young families might like to send one parent / carer ahead with the children …….

Let’s share the labour of love that creates these special moments in our church and lift the burden from the shoulders of those who already do so much.

My husband Steve will be there to help, and daffodils, foils, ribbon will all be provided.

Please bring any foliage or flowers you can spare from your gardens , the hedgerows, let’s make sure everyone feels the love on this special Sunday before we turn to the final weeks of Lent and the joy of Easter.

Please note that in this service we honour all forms of caring and nurturing, it is not just about motherhood, there are so many ways which we all reflect the love of a parenting God in the world and we come together to honour that as well as to remember those who have mothered us in many different ways throughout our lives.

Every Blessing
Rev Helen Burnett
