St Peter & St Paul's Newsletter - November 2023

Letter from Your Treasurer.

Generosity is at the heart of our faith, we believe in a generous God and our own generosity is a testament and hallmark of our faith in action.

Every month when reading Chaldon’s newsletter, I am always impressed and amazed by the diversity of events
and services being offered by Revd Helen and her team of helpers.

Did you realise it is not only Revd Helens determination and team of helpers that get things done at Chaldon it’s also YOU..

Treasurer of Chaldon Church I must say a huge Thank You to those who give regularly to the church via standing
order. Without you the vibrant life of the church could not happen.

By giving to Chaldon Church your contributions are hugely valued and help us plan for the year ahead. It also ensures we can pay for regular maintenance and care of our church building.

As you may be aware the church at Chaldon, as are all other Church of England churches is self-supporting. We do not get any money from the central church and have to pay all our bills and also contribute to the cost of having a vicar at Chaldon. Currently we are lucky to be given a vicar by Southwark Diocese even though our contribution only meets 57% of what she costs and it is due to the generosity of other churches in the Diocese that this cost is covered.

As in all walks of life our costs are increasing annually and we are always grateful if you feel able to increase your giving especially if you haven’t reviewed it for a few years.

I also am aware that in recent months a number of you have asked about giving to the church therefore, below are the details of our bank account.

Bank details: Name of Account: PCC of Chaldon St Peter & St Paul General Bank Sort Code: 30-91-72
Bank Account Number: 00864058

Those of you who use online banking can setup a standing order electronically. If you do not want to do this please email me and I can send you a form which you can post or take to your bank. There will also be some forms available at the back of the church.

It makes a real difference to the church and every regular donation is gratefully received.
If you are a UK tax payer we also can claim back an extra 25% on any donation you give, again email me if you would like more details about Gift Aid or pick up a form in church.

I hope the next year at Chaldon will be as special as this. Thank You

Alison Pannett, Treasurer of Chaldon Church. I am not normally someone to quote the bible but the verse below rang true for me when reflecting on my own giving.

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7.
